June 26-29, July 17-20, 2008: Fifth Annual Summer Institute at Peace College
The Summer Institute, an interactive, hands-on, high-energy workshop spread over two summer weekends, is geared toward women who'd like to learn more of what to expect from running for public office or seeking an appointed position. The Institute features knowledgeable professors, presenters from major political parties, media experts, elected and appointed officials, leadership trainers and successful graduates of the Summer Institute. The Institute is non-partisan and keeps its goal simple: to see more women on ballots and in public service in North Carolina. Now in its fifth year, the Institute has graduated over 50 women who are making a difference in their communities.
"The Institute delivered practical knowledge, political analysis, and nuts-and-bolts how-tos"To learn more:
Research shows that additional women at the decision-making “table” means more attention to issues that directly affect women and families, such as childcare, education, and health.
Contact us if you would like to arrange a speaker to learn more about the CenterThe Women at the Table workshops help women identify steps to become more involved in public service. These one-day regional programs give women a chance to consider public service possibilities and learn how women work together to address local concerns.
In 2008, the Center will begin a series of Professional Development Seminars for women bringing a breadth of topics including leadership, ethics, and contemporary NC politics.
We'd love to come talk to your group about the benefits provided by the Center's programs and how you can get involved. Please e-mail info@nccwps.org or call 919-508-2308 for more information.
